Backyard "Birthday" Camping

This is the second year we've done a night of fall backyard camping with our friends The Whetstones. Last year we did it to celebrate Faith & Wyatt turning four. This year we did our "birthday" camping a bit early since our October was insane this year!

This HUGE tent was Jeremy's growing up. I've heard so many stories about Old Blue it was pretty much famous. However Jeremy's description of it was a bit lacking....I knew it was canvas and was envisioning kind of like an event tent in army green. However, I agreed to try it camping one time (and then secretly figured I'd put a new modern tent on our Christmas list) However, I am happy to confess we LOVED it and adopted it quickly as our family's new memory maker. Which is much more "green" and thrifty anyway! It's most endearing quality is that it is huge. Jeremy's approximate quote, "We could adopt 10 children with this tent." Love at first sight.
We also met our play group for a night of star gazing. Although the starts were a bit lacking due to cloud cover.

That morning around the campfire Jeremy told me which little boy he thought God was choosing for our family. More about that later when I do a post updating you on our adoption journey.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BLASTOFF!

We have blasted off a new school year with a space theme all around. Grace's school has a yearly theme and this year their theme is, "Leadership Launch."  You can see the fun themed t-shirts below..this is her music teacher Mrs. Webb.

We also began our first preschool unit with a space theme.

Science Experiment: Life on different planets?
We planted three plants. One on earth (water, sunlight, shade) One on Mercury (All sun, no shade or water) and one on Pluto (In the freezer with no lights/water). Then Faith made predictions about what she thought would happen. She got them all right!
We made a salt dough solar system.

 M is for Moon.
Training to be Astronauts: Obstacle Course

Grace's space helmet she made at school.
Space themed activity day at Mrs. Karen's House

A spaceship Faith& Titus helped build. I think this was their favorite part of the unit.
 Painting at activity day.

Titus & Faith show off their rockets they made at activity day.

Love Titus' face in this one....can't you just hear the sound effects?

Faith's First Day of Preschool 2012

This year we started a new adventure in our house....home school preschool. With Faith not turning five until October I get to enjoy her at home with me for another year. Hooray! It was with excitement and a bit of nervousness (on my part) that we began our year. My class consists of 1 1/2 students. I try and keep Faith busy on Monday, Wednesdays, & Fridays from 9-11. Titus joins us about half of the time.

Faith enjoys that "pink" can participate in this school year since we are at home.
Typical preschool with Titus getting right in there for the fun.
My sweet and sassy student sporting her brand new dress from Nana.
Faith,
I'm so excited to share this new adventure with you. I know we will have lots of fun together and I'm praying we make memories that last a lifetime. I love you sweet girl.
