The Humiston's "Halloween"

Opening the Halloween package from Nana. (Please ignore Jeremy's beard-eww. And note once again Faith has decided she doesn't need pants!) Nana was supposed to come to Trunk or Treat with us, but didn't get too because we were sick. So she sent Halloween surprises in the mail including Faith's costume. Faith was SO excited. She kept saying, "I BEE!" over and over again. I had to keep saying not until tomorrow.

Grace as Emily Elizabeth from Clifford the Big Red Dog (her new favorite)
Faith as a Bible Totin' Bee (Thanks Nana for the costume! Faith added the Bible herself.)
I can't believe how grown up Gracie looks here!!
Since we were sick on Halloween we celebrated a week late instead. Although Grace was disappointed to miss Trunk or Treat at our church they enjoyed our own version of Trick or Treat. We took them to Grandma Holst's house where Grace informed us that you are supposed to knock on the door. She was just a little excited, I love how she is peeking in the door in this picture! We also had fun getting to see Grandma's "new" house. This is the first time I've been to visit since she is all moved back in and decorated since the fire. Her house look great!
Below Faith and Grace are playing soccer in the backyard at Grandma's. I love this picture because their are lots of pictures of me with my cousins from childhood with that same tree and fence in the background!

The girls also enjoyed opening all the special Halloween treats that Grammy & Papa got them. Lots of fun snacks, markers & crayons, A Clifford & Leapfrog movie, and of course candy. Grammy let them choose from her candy basket what they wanted to take home. They choose all M & M's. We had a great family meal (thanks Dad for grilling in the dark) and they got to see both their uncles. Before heading home we did drive thru trick or treating in their pj's at Mom-o and Pop Pop's house. It was such a nice "Halloween."

On Sick Leave

My husband is amazing!! Last Wednesday I woke up in the night VERY sick. I kind of had hints it was coming starting Tuesday, but by the time I woke up on Thursday there was no question I was really sick. So instead of spending Thursday and Friday finishing his last two days of work my husband was taking care of a very sick Mommy and two little girls who REALLY wanted to spend time with me. After getting me to the doctor on Thursday it is most likely I had the H1N1 flu. Although they didn't test me for it. I didn't leave my bed till sometime Saturday. And then it was only for brief bursts of energy followed by complete exhaustion. Jeremy could have opted for fast food and movies, but he didn't. He helped the girls make their own bagel pizzas, gave them a bath, and helped them carve their pumpkin as promised. He did a great job doing dishes, cooking, and caring for our girls. I am SO thankful for him.
Ready to carve!
Not so impressed with the squishy guts this year.
Dad decides to use the Rotozip...
Completed pumpkin...with the help of power tools.

Well, on Friday the girls started coughing so we ended up putting all three of us on Tamiflu just to be careful. Grace ended up getting sick on Halloween running a 102 fever. She started the day trying to convince us she was feeling fine (after throwing up from the Tamiflu) and that Nana could still come and of course she was still set for Trunk or Treat. But, by evening she had completely forgotten her own idea of "Trick or Treating" at home. So we ended up watching a movie and going to bed early. Sunday night we did our own trick or treat of sorts and hid prizes Jeremy picked up at the dollar store for them to find.

We have yet to officially dress up and trick or treat. My recovery has been VERY SLOW. I continue to have a horrible cough and low energy supply. But each day I feel a bit better. We are hoping to take the girls to do a trick or treating circuit of family sometime later this week.

Faith's Birthday Weekend

We started our weekend with a trip to Grandpa and Grandma's house. The girls were very excited! We had dinner with them and Grandma had made Faith a special birthday brownie. They also enjoyed opening their Halloween purses with special treats.

Grace shows off her light up pumpkin necklace to Grandpa.
Faith opens her birthday present (Footed PJ's & Mattress Protector for her Big Girl Bed)
Grandma Leeanne only had a candle shaped like an eight-we thought that would be funny looking back at photos in the future!

The next day we headed to Papa & Grammy's house for another birthday party. I made Faith an Elmo cake and fettucine alfredo (one of her favorites). My mom filled in all the rest! Nana had a scrapbook retreat at Lamoine, but was able to sneak away long enough to join us to open gifts. So the party ended up being Papa, Grammy, Uncle Cody & Erin, Uncle Kit & Wesley, Aunt Jo Jo, Pop-o & Mom-o, & Nana. I love watching Faith open her gifts. She opens one and then is perfectly content to play with whatever she opens. She sees no reason to rush on the to the next one.

Faith was a bit more reluctant to blow out her candles with everyone watching, check it out in video here.

Faith's Elmo Cake- it had a #2 made out of "crayons."
Below, Faith opens her jewelry box from Nana. Full of girlie jewelry, she LOVES it.

Faith opens up her blanket Grammy made for her bed. Every time she uses it she says, "Grammy." I always say, "Yes, Grammy made that just for you." And she replies, "Tanks!"
