Freezer Cooking Road Trip

I have always frozen stuff. I have frozen shredded cheese, bread, fruit (for smoothies), pizza dough, and some meals at the end of my pregnancies. But, I've always wanted to do an official freezer cooking day and stock my freezer.

Well, I decided to recruit some of my favorite cooks but they happen to live across the state instead of across the street. So, my freezer cooking "day" turned into a road trip. The kids and I headed to the Gorsch's for two LONG days of cooking, playing, eating, freezing, and general craziness! I was a little worried how it would go, but it was a blast! Then we met up with Stephanie at Chuck E Cheese to exchange some meals she made too.
Watching Kids Videos, one of our very best "helpers."
Kinnick enjoys all our canned goods.
We often fed Titus & Macey at the same time- not sure I'm ready for twins.
Titus & Macey get ready for a ride to the park. (the mosquitos kept us from staying too long!)
Faith & Kinnick ready to head to the park.
Grace & Sadie (two peas in a pod in more ways than one!)
I love this one- it looks like Titus is eyeing Macey's food.
Matching princess pjs for their sleepover night. (the second night they all slept together in Sadie's room)
Some of our bounty....we cooked a lot! 2 kinds of soup, ham balls, BBQs, cookie dough, enchilladas, rice, cheesey potatoes, mini meatloafs, chicken cordon bleu casserole, and more...
We enjoyed getting a short visit with Stephanie and Hannah at Chuck E. Cheese before heading home to Missouri. We have already enjoyed her pizza pie and the girls gave it two thumbs up!

Kinnick knows how to push Faith's buttons!

Not the best group photo...but we did the best we could. And I'm guessing the next time we get together we will have a new one in the group!

Apple Sauce Party

Some special family friends, The Trenhaile's, invited us over for an applesauce party. They have 3 apples trees in their yard and were kind enough to share some of their "extras." I'm not sure what I loved more the free all natural applesauce or spending time with the ladies making it!

Kathy has a neato machine that pretty much does all the hard work. All we did was pick, wash and cut the apples in half. After being cooked the machine takes out all the skin, seeds, and core and out comes apple sauce. Presto-let it cool and you have a yummy healthy batch of applesauce. I also invited my friend Danielle and her two boys to come along so the kids had fun playing and helping. They loved picking, washing, and even cranking the machine.

We have already eaten 1/3 of what we made that day! I put cinnamon and a tiny bit of sugar in a shaker. The girls love using their special "salt" or "sprinkles" on their applesauce. That way its sugar free for Titus and the girls only get a tiny bit. Nothing says fall like picking apples!
Ms. Kathy helps KJ reach an apple.
We filled this tub up many times!
Grace spies a "good one."
KJ gets in on the washing.
Faith had to pull pretty hard to get them off.

Grace & Faith help crank out the applesauce.

I had to get at least one with Titus. Love this pic, although I had to take the apple away right after I took it because he was trying to eat the leaves! (kind of unfair I know)
God continues to amaze me with his many blessings this fall!
