Leaf Raking

The Saturday before Halloween Grandpa Rick came for the day. We raked leaves in our yard for burning and the guys also built shelves for the shed in our backyard. Grandpa treated us to pizza for lunch. It was a beautiful fall day- wish the leaves in our yard were colorful but.....these pics are still cute.

Here the girls are "helping" with the shelf building. Grandpa brought us the orange truck so we would have it for Trunk or Treat the next day.
Thanks for your help grandpa!

Gracie, Gracie how does your "garden" grow?

Earlier this fall the girls were playing outside and pretending to plant a garden. They were hoeing digging, and raking some dirt in an old flower bed under our porch, now covered in rocks. At one point I caught them using Jeremy's bucket of grass seed for the yard to actually plant in their "pretend" garden. Later on Jeremy called me to come look. Their garden had indeed grown- a beautiful grass crop! They were so proud. Jeremy and I just laughed and laughed. Among all the rocks they planted grew beautiful brand new grass. We joked that they needed to help daddy as they grew more grass then he did!

The Magic House

We had planned to visit an orchard at the end of October near St. Louis. But, I didn't realize that late in the season the orchard's would no longer be offering pick your own apples. So, we ended up making an alternate plan and went to The Magic House. It was amazing and there was so much to see we could go back today and there would still be plenty of things to do! Due to Halloween weekend the Magic House opened during the morning which made it the perfect day to visit. My friend Laurie Cooper and her two girls went with us.

Here the girls are checking out interactive musical instruments:
Titus & Charlotte I got a lot of questions about how close in age they were. They are actually only about 6 months apart but lots of people thought they were both mine.
Faith & Savannah check out the ABC boxes.
The girls loved an exhibit on saving the planet. It was a very creative exhibit on reducing, reusing, recycling. Here the girls are picking locally grown apples for the farmer's market.

Grace making "compost."

They loved the sand.
and the Water.

There is a whole town including a grocery store, hospital, car repair shop, bank, restaurant, and more. We didn't even visit all of it!
Grocery Store

Grace fixing a car....looks like her daddy!
Grace & Faith loved the baby nursery at the hospital. I thought it was fun Grace choose a baby of a different ethnicity to play with. (future brother or sister.....maybe)

Our attempt at a group photo in front of the one million pieces of candy.
They loved the bubble area.

Overall it was a great day- I am looking forward to going back as a family in the future!
