VBS

Saddle Ridge Ranch
Grace was slightly confused by the name Vacation Bible School. When we pulled up to the church the first night she said, "Mom, this is not a school this is our church."

My children have started the habit of picking up more than Bible knowledge at VBS.... I am still scared from the nightmare experience we had last summer when Grace brought home lice (i can barely type the word without a shiver running down my spine). This summer was a different unwelcome invader- a virus. A really nasty high fever, horrible cough, wipe you out for 2 weeks kind of virus. Grace actually only got to attend VBS for two nights and then had to stay home sick. So, that was a bummer. Faith however went for two additional nights all by her big girl self. I was so proud! She cracked me up swinging her little arm doing the lasso action and saying, "I gotta go do that song." They were both proud of the cowgirl vests they made.

I enjoyed helping in the two year old classroom, which was different as I have always been a teacher. But, this was a great match for me this summer with having a small infant. Titus did great in the nursery (even though he was up late). I am looking forward to our family being more fully involved next summer!

Titus' First Cereal

I think the pictures pretty much tell the story- my little baby is getting all grown up!

Super Why at the Library

This month our local library hosted a SUPER fun event. Super Why, from the PBS Kids show "Super Readers" visited. The girls both love this show and highly anticipated the event. They got to see Super Why and listen to a few stories being read by the hostess from PBS.

We also had the excitement of showing up on the local news. While we were waiting for Super Why to arrive (he was a little late) I pulled out some of our library books and began reading to my kiddos. My goal was to keep them occupied while they waited, but this was the perfect film clip while the woman at PBS explained the important of reading to your kids. While I wasn't trying to "get on the news" the girls thought this was a very fun bonus. There was a meet & greet photo op at the end, but as excited as they were they wouldn't get close. So, no great pictures....oh, well. I love taking advantage of free fun events like these!

You can view the news clip here.

First Boat Ride

Earlier this summer we took Titus for his first boat ride on the mighty Mississippi. Each summer the kids look forward to riding on Grandpa's boat. We took a ride and then stopped at a sand bar to play. The water was so high there was just a small patch of sand. But that worked perfect. The girls had fun digging and making sand castles. I didn't get any pictures at the sand bar, but hope to get some from Grandma.

Titus-6 Months

I love this outfit. I bought it for Courtney's baby shower and my prego brain forgot to pack the present in the van. So, I had to buy her a new one in route and I saved this outfit for another gift. But, surprise we had boy and he grew like crazy so it ended up fitting him. :)

This is the first month I don't feel like I am shocked by how much different Titus looks. He has finally slowed down a bit and we didn't have to change sizes! Some of his new exciting tricks include: rolling both ways, scooting, sitting up, flirting with the ladies and grabbing (he is a killer if he gets your hair or earrings). His eyes have darkened and I would officially say they are brown. Yeah! I was hoping at least one of our kids would get my eye color. He still doesn't have too much hair but he wouldn't fit in other wise. He is getting a bit more difficult to drag along on his sisters' adventures as he likes to get down and roll around or check things out. But, thankfully he will still nap in his car seat if needed.

The big milestone we haven't taken on yet is solids. With VBS, sick kids, and vacation next week we have decided to wait until after vaca to take that on. So when we get home I will break back out the baby food maker and ice cube trays and get going on that project.
Titus,
Your dad doesn't like the hat in these pics he thinks its too girly. Sorry, but I think you look cute in it. You can take your dad's side when you get older, but for now I get to dress you! I now affectionately refer to you as my "little linebacker." I don't know if you will end up being into sports, but I know I will always be your biggest cheerleader. I love you.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Last week Jeremy's company, Reliable, had a night at the ballpark. So, we loaded up our kids and went to "watch" a Cavemen game. I use the term "watch" very lightly. (Like I'm not sure I saw a single hit or pitch)

I don't even know who won because at the 7th inning we "caved" and went home. It was one of the hottest days of the summer and we were sitting out in the sun so it wasn't quite as fun as when we went last year. But, the girls got to eat nachos... a special treat for this frugal family and Grace did catch a glimpse of the "funny men" We only saw them like twice. I think because of the heat they were probably taking off their costumes and only coming out when necessary.
Note Titus' displeasure with the fact that I took the State Farm fan he was eating away so we could see his cute Cavemen shirt Gramy found him at a yard sale. So, I gave the fan back and he was much happier to have his picture taken. Oh, well.
